Thank you to Valerie A Wright for the information below about our joint family tree (a lightly-edited email to me dated 2003/06/26): Would you please note the contributions of Val Wright, Canada, Reg Harris, England and Steve Hayes South Africa. The wonders of the internet!!! I have connected with Reg and Steve only recently and both have been very helpful. Steve is the only Hart-Davis descendant of the three of us, and has asked if there could be a link to his own page at http://www.geocities.com/hayesstw/stevesig.htm Should you ever come across any further information regarding Richard Hart-Davis or his father I would really appreciate hearing of it. I am descended from a Thomas Davis, of Bristol and believe there is a possibility he was a brother of Richard's by Henry's first or second wife. So long ago, I know, but this is a fun if consuming hobby, and I meet such interesting people. By the way, I have copies of the wills of Richard Hart Davis and his brother Henry. I am trying to get a copy of the will of their mother Mariana from the Bristol Record Office. Best wishes, Val Wright Descendants of Henry Davis Generation No. 1 1. A follow-up email query from VW 2013/10/13: We have corresponded in the past (2003 and 2010) about the Hart Davis family in Bristol. I am looking for the marriage of a Thomas Davis and Elizabeth Smith, son Thomas born 1787/8, an auctioneer and accountant. I did some work on your tree in 2003 as it seemed to be a likely family. I have finally found a connection between our families, though sadly not the one I seek. However, it does seem to show the families knew each other during the early 1800s. In your tree is a Maria Ames Davis born 1790. Maria was the daughter of Henry 1762 and Maria (possibly Ames). Henry was a solicitor and died in Bristol in 1837. He was the full brother of Richard Hart Davis 1766. Maria Ames Davis married Richard Poole in 1811 at St.Augustine Bristol.Their first daughter, Martha Poole, married John Oliver in 1834 at Temple. John Oliver was nephew to my ancestor Isaac Reynolds, master mariner, who married Sarah Davis, daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth in 1818. Isaac was the son of William Reynolds shipwright and Elizabeth Oliver. Elizabeth was born Elizabeth Partridge and married William Oliver first. Their son John Partridge Oliver was half brother to Isaac and married Hester Mayo. John Oliver was his son. So slowly....I don't suppose anyone knows if it WAS Maria AMES? Duff H-D responded with: In fact, I don't think we have any connection with the Bristol H-Ds, as my father concluded that his father was not Richard H-D, but Sir Gervase Beckett, of Yorkshire.
